Dear Parents and Carers

Atwell College experienced a building fire in the early hours of Monday morning. The fire occurred in the library/resource centre known as the "Resource Centre". The operations of the college are continuing as normal with classes scheduled in the Resource Centre allocated to other rooms in the college. The college is also expecting the arrival of some demountable classrooms to support room availability and flexibility. Rooms adjacent to the Resource Centre are structurally sound but do not have electrical power at this stage. This situation stops the canteen from being operational in the short term. I ask parents and carers to make alternative arrangements in terms of food for students at lunch and recess for today and tomorrow at least. Food can be dropped off at the college for students as long as the items are bagged with a name attached. Further updates regarding the canteen availability will be provided to the community as soon as details are to hand. Whilst this is devastating news to the staff and the students regarding the very heavily used Resource Centre the college has received many offers of support and help. When the true extent of the damage to the contents is established the college will keep the community informed of all eventualities. I can be reached at the college for further inquiries and information. Noel Woodley Principal
